Morant Wins Vault, Bars, Floor Titles for Gymnastics at Ivy Classic

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Caroline Morant won titles on vault, bars, and floor while earning four All-Ivy Classic honors as Brown University gymnastics placed fourth with a 192.400 at the 2017 Ivy Classic at Yale University's Lee Amphitheater on Saturday afternoon.
Morant (Chicago, Ill.) collected First Team All-Ivy Classic in the all-around with a 38.550 while adding First Team honors on vault, bars, and floor. In her career, she won six Ivy Classic titles and totaled 13 All-Ivy Classic honors.
Senior Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.) gained First Team All-Ivy Classic on vault and beam while junior Anya Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) garnered First Team on bars and Second Team on floor. Mitchell concluded her career with eight All-Ivy Classic accolades and three Ivy Classic titles.
Junior Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) collected Second Team All-Ivy Classic on beam for the second straight year, and freshman Anne Christman (Amherst, N.H.) won Second Team on beam. In all, five Brown gymnasts collected 10 All-Ivy Classic laurels.
Cornell won the team title with a 193.325 while Penn came in second with a 192.925, and host Yale finished in third with a 192.875. Brown had won at least a share of the team title in three of the last four years while a Brown gymnast had claimed the all-around title in each of the last four years from 2013-16.
Brown scored a season-high 48.350 on vault while tallying a 48.450 on bars, a 48.275 on floor, and a 47.325 on beam. The Bears led the team rankings after two rotations with a 96.800.
Morant won the vault title with a 9.825 while Mitchell supported her with a 9.775 for third place. Sophomore Julia Green (Exton, Pa.), Olson, and Christman posted a 9.650, 9.575, and 9.525 respectively.
On bars, Morant claimed another title with a season-high 9.850 while Olson tallied a personal-best 9.825 for second place. Junior Maggie McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) registered a 9.675, junior Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) notched a 9.575, and Mitchell logged a 9.525.
Morant captured her third first-place finish on floor with a 9.850. Olson followed with a 9.650, and Green scored a personal-best 9.625. Sophomore Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) and McAvoy rounded out the scoring with a 9.600 and 9.550 apiece.
On beam, Mitchell came in third with a 9.775, Butchness placed fifth with a 9.725, and Christman added a 9.700.
Next, Brown competes at the University of New Hampshire with Yale on Sunday, Mar. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
