KINGSTON, R.I. – Senior Carly Paul (Fort Collins, Colo.) of the Brown women's track & field team won three of five events as she captured first place at the URI Pentathlon Friday afternoon at Mackal Field House.
Paul racked up a personal best 3,883 points, breaking her previous top score by over 200 points, for second all-time in Brown history behind only Lindsay Taylor '01 (4,053) and eighth all-time in Ivy League history. Paul topped the field of 13 competitors and set personal bests in four events over the course of the meet, winning the high jump (5-10), shot put (33-1) and long jump (18-9.25).
Paul now ranks second all-time at Brown in both the pentathlon and the heptathlon, earning Second Team All-Ivy honors last spring.
Rookie Hannah Sexton (Perkasie, Pa.) placed tenth at the URI Pentathlon with 2,671 points.
Brown is back in action on Saturday, January 13 for the Dartmouth Invitational.
