
Women's Rugby Defeated at Harvard, 45-15

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown women's rugby team was defeated by Harvard, 45-15, on Friday night at Roberto A. Mignone Field.
Harvard (3-0, 1-0 Ivy) opened the match with an 8-0 lead. Brown later kicked for points but the attempt missed. The Crimson countered with a try on the edge for a 13-0 advantage. Before the half ended, Harvard was able to register another try to take an 18-0 lead. Brown (0-2, 0-2 Ivy) quickly answered with its first points of the contest, with junior Beth Clifton (Attleboro, Mass.) kicking for points, to bring the score to 18-3 heading into the break.
The Crimson scored four unanswered tries with one conversion kick before senior Sofia Rudin (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a try for the Bears that was followed by a successful conversion to bring the match to 40-10. With the momentum, Brown sophomore Louise Leitao (Porto Alegre, Brazil) tallied a try for a 40-15 score. Harvard then recovered a kick and ran for a try to bring the game to its eventual final of 45-15.
The Bears will next return home to play Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Marvel Field. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
