
Women's Water Polo Tops Conn. College to Advance at CWPA Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 7 seed Brown University women's water polo beat No. 9 seed Connecticut College, 11-3, to advance at the CWPA Championship after falling to No. 3 seed, Bucknell University, 10-6, on Saturday at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool.
Competing in consolation play, the Bears (10-25) earned a spot in Sunday's seventh-place game at 9:00 a.m. with their win over the Camels (15-9). The No. 20-ranked Bison (17-15) qualified for the fifth-place game with their win over Brown earlier in the day.
Senior Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and freshman Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) each scored five goals between the two games to pace the Brown offense.
Sophomore goalkeeper Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) totaled 16 saves on the day and gained Player of the Game honors vs. Conn. College.
Game 1: No. 3 Bucknell 10, No. 7 Brown 6
No. 7 seed Brown rallied to pull within two goals with 5:46 to play, but No. 3 seed Bucknell hung on for a 10-6 win in a consolation game at the CWPA Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Santiago and Rosas each scored two goals while first-years Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) and Allison Woo (Arcadia, Calif.) each netted one goal.
In net, Dakan made four saves.
Rosas scored the game's opening goal before Bucknell took a 2-1 lead after the first quarter. Santiago started the second stanza's scoring prior to a 3-0 run from the Bison which made the score 5-2.
Woo and McDougal each found the back of the net in between a Bucknell marker to pull Brown within 6-4 at the half. The Bison posted both of the third quarter's goals to bring an 8-4 advantage into the final quarter.
Santiago and Rosas registered back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to cut Brown's deficit to 8-6 with 5:46 remaining. The Bison answered with the game's final two tallies.

Santiago and Rosas each scored three goals, and the Bears netted all five of the fourth quarter's goals as No. 7 seed Brown beat No. 9 seed Conn College, 11-3, on Saturday night in a consolation game at the CWPA Championship.
The Bears, who held a 6-1 lead at the half, advance to the tournament's seventh-place game on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. while the tournament comes to a close for the Camels.
Supporting Santiago and Rosas, sophomore Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) and freshman McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) each posted two goals. Woo added a single tally for the second time in as many games.
In the cage, Dakan stopped 12 shots to earn Player of the Game honors.
Brown opened the game with a 3-0 lead as Heilman, Miller, and Rosas notched one goal apiece. Conn. College scored once to keept the score at 3-1 through one.
The Bears logged all three of the second stanza's goals as Rosas, Santiago, and Rosas again found the back of the net to put Brown up 6-1 at the break. The Camels scored the third quarter's two goals to pull within 6-3 heading to the fourth.
In the fourth frame, Brown won the quarter 5-0 as Miller, Santiago, Heilman, Woo, and Santiago once more scored in order to seal the victory.
