
Women's Water Polo Falls to Indiana in CWPA Quarterfinals, 10-4

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Jessica Heilman scored a hat trick, but No. 7 seed Brown University women's water polo fell to No. 2 seed Indiana University, 10-4, in the CWPA Championship quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool.
The Bears (9-24) will play No. 3 seed and No. 20-ranked Bucknell (16-15) on Saturday at noon in consolation play while the No. 14-ranked Hoosiers (22-6) will face No. 6 seed and No. 21-ranked Hartwick (16-12) in the semifinals on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) added an assist, two steals, and two ejections draw to her three goals while freshman Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) netted Brown's other goal and chipped in two steals and an ejection drawn.
Brown sophomore goalkeeper Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) made 14 saves to help keep the Bears within striking distance.
Freshman Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) totaled three steals and two ejections drawn, junior Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) posted three steals and an assist, and senior Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) contributed two ejections drawn, an assist, and a steal. Freshman McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) came up with two steals.
After Indiana went ahead 3-0 in the first quarter, Heilman scored a goal before the Hoosiers brought a 4-1 edge into the second frame.
Heilman notched back-to-back goals in the second quarter to trim Brown's deficit to 5-3 before Indiana scored the stanza's last two goals and carried a 7-3 lead into halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter, but Indiana used a 3-0 run to pull ahead 10-3 in the fourth frame before Rosas netted a goal prior to the final buzzer.
