
Baseball Takes Finale to Split Series With Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team limited Dartmouth to just four hits to win the finale, 2-0, after suffering a 15-0 defeat in the first game on Sunday, as the two teams split the four-game series at Murray Stadium.
Brown moves to 11-18 overall and 5-7 in the Ivy League, while the Big Green now stand at 11-20, 5-5.
Game 1 (Dartmouth 15, Brown 0)
Dustin Shirley and Rob Emery had three hits apiece to headline Dartmouth's 14-hit attack in the opener of the doubleheader. Dartmouth took a five-run lead into the sixth inning and then scored ten runs over the final two frames to grab the win.
Beau Sulser went the distance for the Big Green as he gave up just four hits in seven innings with five strikeouts.
Rob Henry (Cranston, R.I.) and Noah Shulman (Merrick, N.Y.) each had one double to lead the Brown offense. Austin French (Orange, Conn.) allowed five runs over five innings with seven strikeouts in the loss.
Game 2 (Brown 2, Dartmouth 0)
The Brown pitching staff held Dartmouth to just four hits in game two, led by starter Max Ritchie (Woodbridge, Conn.), who tossed five scoreless innings for his first win of the season. Rookie JJ Sliepka (Houston, Texas) provided one scoreless inning in relief, before Dante Bosnic (Lutz, Fla.) completed the shutout with two hits in three frames for his third save.
Dartmouth starter Clay Chatham took the loss on the other side with two earned runs in three innings.
Henry went 2-for-4 at the plate for the three-hit day, while Kevin Guthrie (Sarasota, Fla.) added a double.
Brown scored both runs early, starting with one tally in the second inning, when Brian Ginsberg (Calabasas, Calif.) drove in Josh Huntley (Aurora, Colo.) on a groundout. The Bears added another run in the third as Guthire sent in Henry with a double down the left field line.
Brown held Dartmouth to just one hit over the next five innings. The Big Green managed to get a pair of hits in the ninth, but Bosnic ended the game on a strikeout to complete the nine-out save.
Brown will host UMass Lowell in midweek action on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
