
Women's Water Polo Concludes West Coast Swing vs. No. 20 SDSU, No. 16 LBSU

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Brown University women's water polo concluded its eight-game road trip in the state of California with a pair of games on Thursday at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on the campus of Long Beach St., falling to No. 20 San Diego St., 15-5, and to the host, No. 16 LBSU, 7-4.
Playing their 12th and 13th games vs. ranked opponents through 25 contests on the season, the Bears (7-18) dropped the neutral-site decision to the Aztecs (10-12) in their first game of the day before challenging the host 49ers (13-10) in their finale on the West Coast.
Sophomore Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) paced the Bears' offense with three goals between the two games.
Next, Brown returns to the East Coast and hosts Connecticut College on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in its first home game since Feb. 7.
Game 1: No. 20 San Diego St. 15, Brown 5
Freshman Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, lll.) scored a team-high two goals as Brown fell to No. 20 San Diego St., 15-5, on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Long Beach St.
Heilman and freshmen Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) and McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) each netted one goal.
The Aztecs took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and extended their margin to 7-0 midway through the second stanza.
Rosas posted the Bears' first two goals to pull Brown within 7-2 at halftime.
San Diego St. went up 11-2 with the third quarter's first four goals before McDougal countered with a marker. SDSU brought a 12-3 lead into the fourth frame.
Goals from Heilman and Miller cut the Bears' deficit to 13-5 with 4:28 to play before the Aztecs charted the match's last two tallies.

Game 2: No. 16 Long Beach St. 7, Brown 4
Heilman netted a team-best two goals, and Brown remained within two goals of No. 16 Long Beach St. for the majority of the game before falling, 7-4, on Tuesday night.
Senior Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and junior Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) posted one goal apiece for the Bears.
In net, sophomore goalkeeper Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) made eight saves.
Brown tied the game at 1-1 after the first quarter as Heilman scored her first goal with nine seconds to play in the opening frame. The Bears kept their deficit to 3-1 at the intermission as the 49ers took the second quarter 2-0.
Heilman began the second half's scoring, bringing the visitors within 3-2 at the 6:17 mark of the third quarter. LBSU pulled ahead 5-2 heading to the fourth frame.
In the final period, Brown cut its margin to 5-3 on a Santiago goal with 7:12 to play and to 6-4 on a Kolokotronis marker with 4:17 left, but the hosts held on for the win.
