
Brown Women's Lacrosse Falls at No. 5/6 Louisville, 14-6

LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The Brown women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 5/6 Louisville, 14-6, on Wednesday night at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Junior Jillian Lee (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) netted a career-high three goals for Brown in the contest.
The Bears started strong and got on the board first with a free position tally from Lee to take a 1-0 lead at 28:12. Senior Richael Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) increased Brown's lead to 2-0 with a score at 21:12.
Louisville registered its first goal of the game at 20:00 from Kaylin Morissette. The Cardinals added two more to take a 3-2 lead. Kelli Gerding scored the first tally at 14:58 and then it was a while before another score took place, until Cortnee Daley broke the drought with a free position goal at 5:54.
Senior Lauren Toy (Kentfield, Calif.) tied it up 3-3 with a score at 2:59. Junior Mollie Lane (Arlington, Va.) assisted the goal.
Jillian Balog pulled the Cardinals ahead (4-3) at 1:58 and Hannah Koloski made it 5-3 with 31 seconds left in the first half.
Louisville opened the second stanza with six-straight goals to take an 11-3 before Lee stopped its run with her second goal of the game to make it 11-4. The two teams traded goals as the Cardinals made it 12-4 before freshman Hafsa Moinuddin (Cheshire, Conn.) scored on a free position tally to bring the score to 12-5.
Madison Hoover scored the next goal for the Cardinals at 6:46 to give them a 13-5 lead. Lee next completed the hat trick with a goal at 5:12. Louisville brought the game to its final (14-6) at 3:23 with a free position goal form Cortnee Daley.
Senior Victoria Holland (Huntington, N.Y.) made 11 saves in the contest for Brown while Brittany Read made five stops for the Cardinals.
Lee finished the game with a career-high three goals and Kelli Gerding led all scorers in the game with four goals.
Louisville concluded the game with a 17-5 advantage in draw controls and a 30-15 lead in shots. The Cardinals were a perfect 12-12 in clears while Brown went 8-for-11. For free position shots, Brown went 2-for-3 while Louisville went 3-for-10.
The Bears will next play in their second-straight non-conference game on Saturday, April 2, traveling to Sacred Heart for a 1:00 p.m. game.
