
Women's Water Polo Defeats Connecticut College, 17-14

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Jessica Heilman led five Brown multi-goal scorers with four goals as Brown University women's water polo defeated Connecticut College, 17-14, on Wednesday night at Lott Natatorium.
In their first game since March 5, the Bears (5-12) gained a lead as large six goals on several occasions in the second and third quarters en route to the win over the host Camels (6-4).
Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) paced the Bears' offense and added a team-high three steals. Freshman Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) netted three goals while classmate Allison Woo (Arcadia, Calif.) tallied two goals, two assists, and two steals.
Freshman McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) posted two goals and two assists, and senior Emma Dodd (Pasadena, Calif.) logged two goals.
Seniors Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and Victoria Pierotti (Newport Beach, Calif.), junior Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.), and freshman Montana Fowler (Santa Cruz, Calif.) each notched one goal while Pierotti tacked on two assists.
Freshmen Lucia Adami (Brookfield, Ill.) and Audrey Flower (Portola Valley, Calif.) dished out two assists apiece, and classmate Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) came up with two steals.
In net, sophomore transfer Emily Adams (Mission Viejo, Calif.) made 10 saves, and junior Sahana Nazeer (Franklin, Mass.) turned aside six shots.
Brown jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter as Woo netted a pair of goals, and Heilman and McDougal tallied markers. Conn. College pulled within 4-2 before McDougal, Santiago, and Dodd each scored to put the visitors up 7-2 through one frame.
In the second quarter, a Miller goal put Brown up 8-2, a Fowler tally gave the Bears a 9-3 edge, and another Miller marker kept Brown up 10-5 prior to the Bears taking a 10-6 advantage into the intermission.
Heilman scored twice in the first 70 seconds of the third quarter to extend the Bears' edge to 12-6. Goals from Kolokotronis and McDougal kept Brown ahead 14-9, and a tally from Dodd staked the visitors to a 15-10 lead after three stanzas.
Pierotti and Heilman each found the back of the net in the fourth frame to help preserve the win.
Next, Brown begins an eight-game swing through the state of California from Mar. 26-31, starting with a contest at Whittier College on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
