
Women's Water Polo Tops St. Francis, Falls to No. 17 Hartwick, No. 13 Indiana

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo topped St. Francis Brooklyn, 13-7, and fell to No. 17 Hartwick, 16-5, and No.13 Indiana, 15-7, on the second day of the Bruno Classic at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Saturday.
The Bears (1-5) defeated the Terriers (0-1) in their middle of the game, dropping a decision to the Hawks (2-3) in the morning and to the Hoosiers (2-2) in the evening.
Sophomore Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) led the Bears with six goals between the three games while freshman McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) netted five goals over the course of the day.
Next, Brown concludes action at the Bruno Classic tomorrow vs. Wagner at 4:10 p.m.
Game 1: No. 17 Hartwick 16, Brown 5
Five different Bears scored one goal apiece as Brown fell to No. 17 Hartwick, 16-5, in its first game of the second day of the Bruno Classic on Saturday morning.
Seniors Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and Victoria Pierotti (Newport Beach, Calif.), Heilman, and freshmen Audrey Flower (Portola Valley, Calif.), and Allison Woo (Arcadia, Calif.) each scored once for the Bears.
The Hawks opened the game with a 3-0 lead and built its lead to 7-0 in the second quarter. Santiago stemmed the run with a goal at the 1:46 mark of the second quarter before the visitors brought an 8-1 edge into halftime.
Flower made the score 10-2 with a tally with 4:10 to go in the third quarter, and Hartwick pushed its advantage to 13-2 through three quarters. The Hawks went up 16-2 in the fourth quarter.
The Bears netted the game's last three goals as Pierotti, Heilman, and Woo scored in order in a 75-second span in the frame.

Game 2: Brown 13, St. Francis Brooklyn 7
Junior Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) and Heilman each scored three goals to lead Brown to a 13-7 win over St. Francis Brooklyn in the Bears' second game of the day on Saturday afternoon.
Santiago and freshman Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) netted two goals apiece while Miller, Pierotti, and Woo added one goal each.
Sophomore goalkeeper Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) made eight saves in the game.
Santiago, Miller, and Pierotti scored three consecutive goals to give the Bears a 3-0 lead just over seven minutes into the game. Santiago connected on her first goal of the game to help Brown take a 4-2 lead after the first quarter.
Opening the second stanza, Santiago extended the hosts' edge to 5-2, and Heilman made it 6-3 with 6:06 to play in the half. Heilman and Rosas netted back-to-back goals later in the frame as Brown held an 8-3 edge at the break.
Woo posted the Bears' first goal of the second half to keep Brown up 9-5 through three quarters.
Brown went ahead 11-6 with 3:16 remaining in the contest as Heilman and Koloktronis notched markers. Kolokotronis and Rosas registered the game's last two tallies inside of the final 1:43.

Game 3: No. 13 Indiana 15, Brown 7
Miller scored a team-high four goals, and Brown pulled within 9-6 in the third quarter before No. 13 Indiana took a 15-7 win in the Bears' third and final game of the day on Saturday night.
Heilman netted two goals and Santiago added a single tally.
Miller posted the Bears' first goal at the 3:51 mark of the first quarter before Indiana gained a 4-1 lead after the first.
The Hoosiers pushed their edge to 9-1 in the second quarter prior to a pair of goals from Miller inside of the final 1:20 which allowed the Bears to cut their margin to 9-3 at the half.
The Bears charted the first three goals of the second half to trim their deficit to 9-6 with 5:34 remaining in the third quarter. Miller started the run before Heilman logged back-to-back markers. Indiana then led 11-6 at the end of the stanza.
After Indiana went up 14-6 in the fourth quarter, Santiago netted the Bears' last goal with 2:14 left on the clock.
