Men's Closes Out Season At Hoehn Cup

While the Brown men's squash team dropped three matches to finish 16^th at the CSA National Championship Hoehn Cup, the Bears battled to the end after a 9-0 loss to Drexel, and fell to Franklin & Marshall and Middlebury by identical 5-4 scores.

The team had started the tournament facing the #1 seed in the Hoehn Cup Drexel. Ultimately the team lost 9-0 but at # 1 Thomas Blecher '18 took first team All American El Atmas to five games, as did Jack Blasberg '16 at #2 and Alex Baldock '17 at #3. Jack's brother, Charlie Blasberg '18 at #8, also pushed his opponent to five. Drexel knew that they had been in a contest.

Brown's opponent in the next round was F&M who earlier in the season had defeated Princeton and are a very strong side at the top of the line up. Again the Bears came ready to scrap and lost 4-5 with wins from Philip Demeulenaere '19 at #5, Foster Hoff '16 at #6 , Alex Demeulenaere '17 at #7 and Ben Caraballo '19 at #9.

In the gripping 5-4 loss to Middlebury - the Bears held two match balls at 10-8 in the fifth, 4-4 in the match - but were unable to convert them. A great team effort just came up short. The final match saw a tremendous college competition leave the #1's battling it out for the final and fifth match after wins from Oliver Booth '16 #4, Philip Demeulenaere '19, Charlie Blasberg '18 and Ben Caraballo '19 had set up a grandstand finish that saw the team pull up just short after a gutsy performance by the Bear's number one Thomas Blecher '18.
