PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team scored four goals in the opening period and five different players scored overall as the Bears powered past No. 20 Clarkson, 5-2, in ECAC play Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
Brown improves to 5-16-5, 3-12-4 in the ECAC, while the Golden Knights drop to 16-12-3, 8-8-3 ECAC.

Brown exploded for four goals in the first period, including three in the first seven minutes of play. Bird started it off 1:28 into the contest when he snuck a shot under the pad of Lewis for his fourth goal of the season.
From there, Marchin and Pryzbek both scored within a 31-second span to make it a three-goal game. On the first goal at 5:49, Mark Naclerio (Milford, Conn.) sent the pass from the point to the slot, where Lappin skated through and kicked it back to Marchin to set up the rookie's 14th goal of the season. After Sam Lafferty (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) won a faceoff in the offensive zone, Pryzbek scored at 6:18 when his shot from the left circle bounced off Lewis and into the goal.
Lappin added the fourth and final goal of the period at 18:14. Marchin took advantage of an odd-man rush to find Lappin, who capitalized with a backhander for his team-high 15th tally.
Brown outshot the Golden Knights, 11-4, in the first frame.
Clarkson responded with a pair of goals in the second period and outshot the Bears by a 13-9 margin. Jeff DiNallo put the visitors on the board at 4:56 on a goal that was initially ruled no good, but was reversed after video review. Jordan Boucher tacked on another goal at 16:42 to trim the deficit to two at the second intermission.
Clarkson held an 11-6 shot advantage in the third period, but Alex Brink scored the only goal of the stanza at 2:07 to give the home side the three-goal lead. He maneuvered around a defenseman in the offensive zone and broke free to beat Perry glove side for his fourth goal.
