Men’s Hockey Adds Tom Peffall as Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown Class of 1975 Head Coach for Men's Hockey Tom Upton has announced the addition of Tom Peffall as the Bears' new assistant coach.
"I am very excited to welcome Tom to our Brown Hockey program," Upton said. "Tom has tremendous experience coaching and recruiting at the Division 1 level. He will have a great impact on the development of our players. His values as a person and coach align perfectly with our culture we are creating within our program and we are very grateful he is a part of it."
Peffall comes to Brown after being at Mercyhurst since 2022. From 2022-25, Peffall was an assistant coach, where he oversaw recruiting, skill development, video implementation, in-game management, forwards, and the power play.
In 2025, Peffall was named the Head Coach in Waiting at Mercyhurst, where he recruited the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in Atlantic Hockey per Neutral Zone Scouting. He led all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, game strategy, and program administration. He oversaw alumni and alumni and community relations, managed the coaching staff, and daily team operations.
Prior to his time at Mercyhurst, Peffall spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Stevenson. He helped recruit the No. 1 recruiting class in the country per Neutral Zone Scouting while being the director of recruiting, and being responsible for all aspects of video for the program.
He was also an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Rebels and of Neumann. Peffall got his Bachelor's degree from Gwynedd Mercy in 2014 and his Master's degree from Neumann in 2018.
On the ice, Peffall played for the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL, and the Vermont Wild of the FHL.
