Cross Country Competes at Pre-Nationals, Hosts Rothenberg Run

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) was 71st overall to lead the Brown women's cross country team at the 2016 Pre-National Invitational on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

As a team, the Bears placed 26th out of 42 squads in the highly competitive women's 6-kilometer Blue Race. Colorado claimed first place with 93 points, followed by Oregon (154) and Michigan (179).
Schudrowitz was 71st out of 285 runners as she completed the course in a time of 21:11.1. Senior Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) was not far behind as she finished in 80th-place in a time of 21:16.5.
Megan Ratcliffe (Carlisle, Mass.) was third on the team in a time of 21:35.8, while Quinn Bornstein (Peacham, Vt.) and rookie Jillian Turner (New Providence, N.J.) crossed at 22:10.3 and 22:15.7, respectively, to round out the scorers.
Rothenberg Run
Brown also hosted the 34th annual Rothenberg Run on Friday afternoon at Goddard State Park.
The men's side totaled 61 points to place third out of five teams, trailing Connecticut and Vermont. The women's team took third out of six teams, totaling 84 points, while Vermont captured first place with 37 points. Teams from Rhode Island, Boston University and Boston College also competed at the meet.
Junior Andrew Coggins (LaGrange, Ga.) paced the men's side with a fourth-place finish as he completed the 8-kilometer course at 25:17.0. Sophomore Tom Hale (Loudonville, N.Y.) was seventh at 25:28.0, followed by freshman Jacob Stanton (25.38.4), Nicholas Wey (26:00.0) and Ronan O'Shea (26:03.6).
Freshman Ciciely Davy (Gaithersburg, Md.) garnered the top time for the women's team as she placed ninth at 17:51.1. Alexis Van Pernis (Kailua Kona, Hawaii) and Mae Fullerton (Wayzata, Wis.) crossed the 6-kilometer course at 5:46.0 and 5:46.2, respectively, while Lucy Srour (Potomac, Md.) and Hannah Szapary (Wynnewood, Pa.) rounded out the scorers.
Next up, the Bears will compete on Saturday, October 29 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship at Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
