
Women's Cross Country Claims Fourth at Ivy Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) placed fourth overall to lead the Brown University women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the 2016 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships Saturday at Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
Harvard captured the team championship with 33 points, followed by Yale (69), Penn (77), Brown (105), Cornell (133), Princeton (137), Dartmouth (142) and Columbia (166). Harvard's Courtney Smith won the individual title in a time of 20:19.6.
"The team loves the championship portion of the season when they can pull everything together," said head coach Mitchell Baker. "All fall, they have shown a great deal of maturity, handling adversity and early season competitions with a mindset towards learning. Today was a strong first step, and we are excited about the gains we can make towards the NCAA portion of the season."
Worthy completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 20:37.8, moving up 17 spots from the 1,500-meter mark to claim fourth out of 93 runners for First Team All-Ivy honors. Junior Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned Second Team All-Ivy accolades for the second straight season as she finished 10th in a time of 20:48.5.
Juniors Megan Ratcliffe (Carlisle, Mass.) and Clare Peabody (Aptos, Calif.) placed 29th and 30th, respectively, at 21:18.5 and 21:19.3. Rookie Jillian Turner (New Providence, N.J.) was 32nd overall at 21:23.6 to round out the Brown scorers.
Emma Sloan (Franklin, Tenn.) and Quinn Bornstein (Peacham, Vt.) crossed in times of 21:30.2 and 21:35.8, respectively.
The Bears return to action on Friday, Nov. 11 for the NCAA Northeast Regional at Van Cortland Park.
