CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown men's swimming & diving team was defeated in a double dual by Penn, 207.5-90.5, and Harvard, 237-63, at Blodgett Pool on Saturday.
Brown top finishers were highlighted by sophomore Riley Springman (Orlando, Fla.), who swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.98), narrowly getting touched out after chasing down the leader.
Freshman Waylon Jin (Berwyn, Pa.) finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.29, just two tenths of a second from 2nd place. Junior Connor Lohman (Prospect, Ky.) and Jin finished fourth (2:05.79) and fifth (2:05.81) in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Junior Jonathon Schlafer (Uniontown, Ohio) and sophomore Bryce Campanelli (Palmyra, Va.) placed second and third, respectively, in the 3m boards with scores of 287.95 and 268.30. Schlafer finished fourth in the 3m with a mark of 262.35.
"We had a few bright spots during this double dual meet," said head coach Chris Ip. "But collectively our men didn't bring their A game. Our team expectations have changed so it's time to back it up. I am confident that we will raise the bar in our final home dual meet against Columbia this coming Saturday. These guys will respond for our seniors in our final home dual meet."
The Bears return to Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Saturday, Jan. 23 for a 4:00 p.m. meet against Columbia.
