Weiss Earns Fencer of the Year, Bears Collect NFC Accolades

2015 NFC Champions and All-Stars
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Barrett Weiss earned NFC Men's Fencer of the Year, freshman Clarissa Allen won Women's Rookie of the Year, and eight other Brown University fencers gained all-conference accolades, the Northeast Fencing Conference announced.
Weiss (Barrington, R.I.) went a perfect 24-0 in NFC competition in 2014-15, also earning First Team Men's Foil honors. Allen (Newtown, Pa.) notched a 30-3 (.909) record as a rookie, taking home First Team Women's Foil plaudits.
Junior Simon Jones (Louisville, Colo.), an NCAA Honorable Mention All-American this season, earned First Team Men's Epee with a 19-5 record. Sophomore Alex Palabrica (Los Angeles, Calif.), Brown's other male NCAA qualifier in 2015, garnered First Team Men's Sabre behind a 23-4 mark.
Along with Allen, junior Audrey Lee (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) gained First Team Women's Foil honors, compiling a 31-3 mark. Senior Christine Whalen (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), a three-time NCAA qualifier, took home First Team Women's Sabre with a 30-2 record.
Junior Kyle Kennedy (Wall, N.J.) gained Second Team Men's Foil (23-4 record), sophomore James Yoon (Austin, Texas) won Second Team Men's Epee (18-6), sophomore Clara Tondato Da Ruos (Milan, Italy) garnered Second Team Women's Sabre (26-5), and freshman Signe Ferguson (Wilmington, Del.) gained Second Team Women's Epee (20-6). Tondato Da Ruos and Ferguson each made the NCAAs in 2015.
As a team, Brown's women's side won the NFC Women's 3-Weapon Team Championship, and the Bears finished in a tie for first in the NFC Combined 6-Weapon Team Championship.
