PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tia Dawson's double-double paced the Dartmouth Big Green to a 71-53 win over the Brown women's basketball team on Friday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Brown drops to 10-17 (4-9 Ivy) entering tomorrow night's finale against Harvard, while the Big Green improves to 14-13 (5-8 Ivy) with the win.

Janie White (Clarksville, Tenn.) led the Bears with 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, while also swatting away two shots. Ellise Sharpe (Tipp City, Ohio), Jordin Alexander (Fishers, Ind.), and Natalie Ball (Orlando, Fla.) each posted eight points, with Ball hauling in a team high six rebounds for the Bears.

Dawson, Fanni Szabo, Milica Toskovic, and Lakin Roland all scored in double figures for the visiting Big Green.

After getting on the board first with a Kennedy Martin layup, the Bears saw Dartmouth rush past them with a 13-0 run over a 7:33 stretch, led by Tia Dawson, who scored 13 first half points despite averaging 3.0 points per game this season.

White got the Bears back in the game at 17-11 with two treys, but the Big Green countered once again with an 11-4 run to take a 28-15 lead with 4:06 to play in the half. After Ellise Sharpe cut the deficit to 11, Milica Toskovic's trey at the buzzer gave the visitors a 37-23 lead entering the locker room.

Brown couldn't find its touch around the rim in the early going, shooting just 26.9-percent (7-26), while the Big Green cashed in on 56.7-percent of their attempts from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bears trailed by as many as 24 in the second half and cut the deficit down to 10 minutes on two occasions, but couldn't muster a rally on Friday night. A 13-3 run, capped by White's trey and Alexander's strong drives to the hoop, got the Bears back within 11 at 55-44 with 8:04 to play.

From there, the sizzling Dartmouth shooting performance continued as the Big Green ran its lead back up to 24 with just under two minutes to play. Dartmouth finished the night shooting 55.6-percent from the field (30-54).

Up next, Brown closes out the 2014-15 campaign tomorrow night versus Harvard. Seniors Sophie Bikofsky, Nelly Weledji, and Christine Rush will be honored prior to tipoff beginning at 6 p.m.
