
Women's Water Polo's Kolokotronis Wins CWPA Weekly Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Brown women's water polo sophomore Marisa Kolokotronis has earned CWPA Player of the Week honors for the week ending March 22, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Thursday.
A native of Sacramento, Calif., Kolokotonis totaled 13 goals, six assists, 12 steals, and 13 ejections drawn to help lead women's water polo to three wins over the weekend.
During the Bears' 10-5 win over Occidental on Sunday, Kolokotronis netted all four of Brown's goals in the third quarter turning a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 lead. She finished the game with five goals, three steals, and three ejections drawn.
The St. Francis High School product posted thee goals, two assists, and two ejections drawn in the team's 14-8 win over Concordia, Irvine on Saturday. She totaled three goals, three steals, and two ejections drawn in Brown's 10-6 victory over Whittier on Sunday. She led the Bears with eight goals between the club's two games on Sunday.
Kolokotronis's selection marks the fourth time this season that the Bears have collected weekly accolades from the CWPA. Freshman goalie Marisol Dakan (Pasadena, Calif.) took home Defensive Player of the Week laurels on Mar. 10 and Feb. 26 while sophomore Shannon Crowley (Seal Beach, Calif.) gained Player of the Week plaudits on Mar. 4.
Brown returns to action today with games against Cal Baptist (4 p.m. ET) and Concordia, Irvine (7 p.m. ET) before hosting its home-opening doubleheader on April 4 against Conn. College (10 a.m.) and CWPA foe Hartwick (5 p.m.).
