
Women's Water Polo Rallies to Beat Bucknell, 6-4

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomores Shannon Crowley and Marisa Kolokotronis each scored twice, the Bears' defense held the Bison to one goal in the second half, and Brown University women's water polo rallied to defeat Bucknell University, 6-4, on Sunday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
The Bears (5-3, 2-0 CWPA) scored the game's last three goals while freshman goalie Marisol Dakan (Pasadenca, Calif.) and the team's defensive unit kept the host Bison (6-4, 1-4 CWPA) off the scoreboard over the contest's final 14:37.
With the win, Brown improved to 3-0 on the weekend after victories over Gannon (14-5) and Mercyhurst (16-7) on Saturday and picked up its second win in Collegiate Water Polo Association play. The Bears have now won four of their last five contests.
Crowley added four steals, five field blocks, and two sprints won while Kolokotronis won the contest's other two sprints. Freshman Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) posted a goal and three assists.
Junior Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) drew a team-high five ejections to go with two steals and two assists while Dakan registered 11 saves in goal.
Bucknell opened the contest with a 2-0 lead after the first quarter, charting goals at the 5:19 and 3:07 marks of the period.
Crowley (Seal Beach, Calif.) netted Brown's first goal less than 20 seconds into the second quarter, scoring from around the 10-meter point. The Bears tied the score at 2-2 just over a minute later as Heilman recorded a marker on a quick turnaround shot.
The Bison pulled ahead again at 3-2 after scoring a goal with 5:10 to play in the half, but Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) knotted the game at 3-3 with a goal on the fast break with 53 seconds remaining in the stanza.
Coming out of halftime, Bucknell posted the second half's first goal at the 6:37 mark of the third quarter, but Dakan and the Bears' defense did not allow a goal the rest of the way.
Kolokotronis started Brown's decisive comeback with a skip shot to tie the game once more at 4-4 with 4:41 on the clock in the third. Junior Emma Dodd (Pasadena, Calif.) netted the eventual game-winning goal with a shot from the right wing with 1:19 left in the third quarter.
Crowley gave the Bears some breathing room with 3:20 to play as she scored her second goal from beyond 10 meters to extend Brown's advantage to 6-4.
Next, Brown begins play at the Harvard Invitational on March 7 with games against Virginia Military Institute (12:45 p.m.) and San Jose State (4:15 p.m.).
