NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown men's swimming and diving team finished the Ivy dual meet season with a 184.5-58.5 setback to Yale at the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool on Saturday.
Head Coach Chris Ip's squad drops to 1-6 in Ivy League dual meets, as the team gears up for the Ivy Championships slated for Feb. 26-28.
"This was the last dual meet of the season and we changed up our lineup to gather information for the best team combination for Ivy's," said Ip. "We got some solid swims from Ryan Saenger in the 200/500 Freestyle events. Declan (Kennon) and Nick (Johnston) had strong performances in the 200 Backstroke."
The afternoon was highlighted by Jonathon Schlafer (Uniontown, Ohio) and his NCAA Zone Diving qualifying mark of 329.93 in the 3-meter event.
In the 200 Freestyle, Cory Mayfield (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), Brian Barr (Martinsville, N.J.), and Ryan Saenger (Clarence, N.Y.) claimed three of the top-five positions, while senior Jeffrey Strausser (Lafayette, Calif.) scored a third-place finish in the 50 Freestyle.
The aforementioned Declan Kennon (Yonkers, N.Y.) placed third overall in the 200 Backstroke, as the freshman checked in with a mark of 1:52.87.
The Bears will host the feBRUINvite, an invitational event, next Saturday and Sunday as a tune-up for the Ivy Championships.
