
Gymnastics' Mitchell, Morant Capture ECAC Weekly Accolades

DANBURY, Conn. – Brown University gymnastics sophomore Jorden Mitchell has earned Corvias ECAC Gymnast of the Week, and classmate Caroline Morant has gained ECAC Coaches Choice weekly honors, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.
A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Mitchell won the all-around title at the Ivy Classic on Sunday, scoring a 38.650. She set career highs on floor (9.725) and vault (9.675), garnering Second Team All-Ivy Classic honors on vault in the process. She posted a 9.650 on bars and a 9.600 on beam.
Morant, a native of Chicago, Ill., won Ivy Classic titles on bars and floor and finished with the team's top score on bars, floor, and vault, overcoming the lingering effects of a knee injury. She earned First Team All-Ivy Classic honors on all three events. Morant scored a career-high 9.875 on bars, a personal-best 9.875 on floor, and a 9.725 on vault. She finished with a 38.500 in the all-around.
Mitchell's selection marked her first ECAC weekly honor this season while Morant collected weekly accolades from the conference for the second time after winning Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 27.
Through the first six weeks of the season, Brown has tallied 10 weekly honors from the ECAC.
In addition to Morant's two selections and Mitchell's recognition this week, freshman Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) has won Rookie of the Week three times, junior Diana Walters (Austin, Texas) has won Gymnast of the Week twice, sophomore Tori Kinamon (Peachtree City, Ga.) won Coaches Choice on Jan. 20, and senior Danielle Hoffman (Bedford, N.Y.) won Specialist of the Week on Feb. 10.
Next, Brown competes at Texas Woman's University with Maryland and Utah State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
