
No. 12 Men's Water Polo's Nunez Wins CWPA Rookie Weekly Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – No. 12 Brown University men's water polo freshman Santiago Nunez has earned CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in his career, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Thursday.
A native of Miami, Fla., Nunez contributed four goals, four assists, two steals, and two field blocks as Brown went 4-0 last weekend and secured an undefeated 12-0 mark in Northern Division play during the regular season.
Nunez logged three goals and an assist in the team's 17-3 win over Conn. College and followed with two steals vs. Iona on Saturday. On Sunday, he posted a goal and two assists vs. St. Francis and added an assist and a field block vs. Fordham.
He becomes the fourth Bear this season to earn rookie laurels joining Sept. 9 winner freshman Spencer Carroll (Newport Beach, Calif.), Oct. 1 winner freshman Will Renken (South Pasadena, Calif.), and Oct. 16 winner sophomore Joe Faller (North Reading, Mass.).
For the season, Nunez has posted 11 goals, nine assists, 22 steals, and nine field blocks.
Nunez and the Bears (21-6, 12-0 CWPA North) will host the CWPA Northern Division Championship this weekend from Saturday to Sunday. The Bears will begin competition at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
