LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) turned in a seventh-place finish as the Brown women's and men's cross country teams participated at the Louisville Pre-Nationals Meet on Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
The women's team finished 18th overall in the seeded race with 531 points, while the men's team placed third in the unseeded race with 198 points.
Schudrowitz was seventh overall at 20:09.4, while Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) took 84th in a time of 21:02.8. Rookie Emma Sloan (Franklin, Tenn.) placed 128th as she crossed in a time of 21:17.3, while Victoria O'Neil (Boise, Idaho) and Lucy Van Kleunen (Philadelphia, Pa.) posted times of 21:31.4 and 21:32.8, respectively.
"Natalie ran an outstanding race today against a very strong field," said Tim Springfield, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country. "She showed a lot of poise and confidence moving up into the lead pack about halfway. It was a big step forward. Emma Sloan ran a strong race as well--it's a challenging environment for a freshman and she handled it well."
On the men's side, rookie Eli Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) was 14th in a time of 24:22.1, before Will Sheeran (Bellevue, Wash.) placed 36th at 24:49.3. After Stephen Bourguet (Manhasset, N.Y.) took 45th in a time of 24:56.7, Franco Martins (Orlando, Fla.) and Ryan Anderson (Santa Rosa, Calif.) crossed in times of 24:58.2 and 25:04.8, respectively.
"Eli Moskowitz ran a strong race, putting himself into the lead pack from the beginning," said Springfield. "It was good to see. It was nice to have Will Sheeran back in the lineup also."
Brown returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30 for the Ivy League Championship at Van Cortlandt Park.
