
Women's Hockey Falls to No. 6 Harvard, 6-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sydney Daniels scored two goals and Hillary Crowe and Mary Parker each notched a goal and an assist to lead No. 6 Harvard University women's ice hockey past Brown University, 6-0, on Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
In the first game after the winter break for both teams, the Crimson (7-2-2, 6-1-1 ECAC) netted two goals in each period to skate past the host Bears (4-10-0, 1-6-0).
Miye D'Oench and Karly Heffernan added goals for Harvard while goaltenders Emerance Maschmeyer and Molly Tissenbaum combined for the shutout, making eight and three saves respectively.
Brown sophomore goaltender Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) stopped 25 shots in the loss, including 11 in the first period and 10 in the third stanza.
The Bears held advantages in faceoffs won (27-22) and blocked shots (15-5) while the Crimson outshot the hosts, 31-11. Brown senior Kaitlyn Keon (Toronto, Ontario) won 14 of her 22 faceoffs (63.6 percent).
Daniels began the scoring for the visitors just less than four minutes into the opening period. She tallied her sixth goal of the season off assists from Lyndsey Fry and Michelle Picard. Harvard pushed its lead to 2-0 off Heffernan's goal at the 16:47 mark of the first.
The Crimson took a 3-0 lead when Parker scored an unassisted, short-handed goal just over four minutes into the middle frame, and D'Oench extended the team's lead to 4-0 on her ninth goal of the season with 3:25 remaining in the period.
Daniels netted Harvard's fifth goal 68 seconds into the final frame, and Crowe registered the contest's final marker 7:10 into the stanza.
Brown killed off Harvard's two power plays while the Crimson penalty kill did not allow a goal on six Brown power plays.
Next, Brown hosts Dartmouth tomorrow at 4 p.m.
