PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Sarah Robson scored late in the first period, but Brown University women's ice hockey fell to Dartmouth College, 5-1, in an ECAC and Ivy League match-up at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday evening.
The Bears (4-11-0, 1-7-0 ECAC) pulled within 3-1 at the end of the first frame, but the visiting Big Green (7-7-1, 3-5-1 ECAC) netted two goals in the second stanza to gain separation.
On Brown's scoring play, junior Kelly Micholson (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) controlled the puck at the point and passed to Robson (Mississauga, Ontario) who slotted a shot into the net from the left faceoff dot on the power play.
Robson registered her fourth goal of the season on the play while Micholson and senior Kaitlyn Keon (Toronto, Ontario) each recorded her sixth assist of the year. Keon posted her eighth power play point of the season, and Micholson charted her seventh power play point of the campaign.
Brown freshman goaltender Julianne Landry (Hanover, Mass.) made a career-high 38 saves while Dartmouth goalie Robyn Chemago turned aside 14 shots in the win. Landry stopped 12 shots in each of the first and second periods and 14 in the third.
Dartmouth logged the game's first goal just less than seven minutes into the first period on a goal from Olivia Whitford. The Big Green doubled its lead 17 seconds later as Samantha Zeiss netted the first of her two goals in the contest off assists from Ailish Forfar and Karlee Odland.
Lindsay Allen scored the visitors' final goal of the first period at the 17:11 mark off a feed from Kennedy Ottenbriet before Robson closed the opening frame's scoring.
In the second period, Ottenbriet posted a goal 13:39 into the period with Allen notching the primary assist, and Zeiss scored the game's final marker just over three minutes later with Odland picking up her second assist of the game.
Brown went 1-for-2 on the power play while the Bears' penalty kill unit nullified two Dartmouth power play opportunities.
Next, Brown plays its first ECAC road contests in the 2015 calendar year at Quinnipiac on Friday at 3 p.m. and at Princeton on Saturday at 3 p.m.
