Women's Swimming and Diving Drops Pair To Harvard and Penn

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's swimming and diving team suffered dual meet setbacks to Harvard and Penn on Saturday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
The Bears fell to Harvard 175-124 and Penn 175.5-124.5 on Saturday to drop to 1-3 in Ivy League dual competition this season.
Despite the losses, Brown boasted notable performances early on as the quartet of Jenna Zagoren (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Aja Grande (Honolulu, Hawaii), Caroline Vexler (Moreland Hills, Ohio), and Reia Tong (Bethesda, Md.) posted a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:45.96).
Kate Dillione (Newtown, Pa.) scored the first of three Brown victories, edging out Virginia Burns of Penn for first place in the 200 Free. Gina Matsumoto (2:04.40) and Vexler (2:05.29) claimed the top two slots for the Bears in the 200 Fly before Tong scored a win in the 50 Free with a time of 23.77.
In 1-meter diving action, Molly Gelb (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Rachel Speakman (Hudson, Ohio) placed fifth and sixth with 246.70 and 240.75 points, respectively.
Dillione followed with her second victory of the day in the 100 Free before teaming up with Grande, Korbyn Simpson (Baltimore, Md.), and Tong to finish first in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
The Bears return to action next Saturday for a dual meet at Columbia beginning at 12 p.m.
