Chloe Cross put the Brown women's soccer team up early, but a late Marist tally drew the Red Foxes even with the Bears in a 1-1 tie at Tenney Stadium on Monday.
THE SERIES HISTORY – HARVARD
Harvard holds a 25-20-3 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1977 as the teams will meet for the 49th time on Saturday. The Bears haven't defeated Harvard since Oct. 16, 2010, a 2-1 Brown triumph at Stevenson Field.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
The Crimson enter Saturday's contests fresh off a 1-1-2 four-game homestand including a 2-0 blanking of Cornell last Saturday. Reigning Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year winner, Margaret Purce, leads the Harvard attack with four goals while Meg Cascells and Emily Mosbacher have each found the back of the net three times in 2014. Senior goalkeeper Cheta Emba has appeared in nine matches, starting in seven for the Crimson in recording a 0.46 goals-against average and .875 save percentage. Harvard has yet to surrender a goal in three Ivy League contests this season, outscoring their opponents by a 5-0 margin.
THE LAST TIME VS. HARVARD
(10/29/13) - The Brown women's soccer team battled Ivy League leader Harvard for over 98 minutes of scoreless play before ultimately falling to the Crimson, 1-0 in overtime at a chilly Stevenson Field on Tuesday.
With 13 shots on Monday at Marist, Brown has recorded 10-plus shots for the eighth time in 13 games this season.
LEHAN A MAINSTAY ON DEFENSE
Freshman back Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has logged all 1,234 minutes of play this season for the Bears this season.
WARSHAUER NETS #1
Ella Warshauer's strike in the fifth minute on Oct. 7 was the sophomore's first career goal.
FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATICS
Cross' goal in the 83rd minute on Oct. 4 vs. Columbia was the third time the Bears have scored in the 80th minute or later this season.
KATZ CONTINUES CAREER SEASON
Continuing her productive season, junior midfielder Erin Katz's (Montgomery, Ala.) first half goal against Columbia ranks her second on the team with three strikes in 2014.
Freshman goalkeeper Rylee Shumway (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted her first career start on Oct. 1 at Bryant, collecting her first collegiate win after making three saves and surrendering just one goal. She also posted a scoreless second half against Quinnipiac on Oct. 7.
FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTIONS
Six of the seven Brown freshmen have logged important minutes for the Bears this season, combining for 21 total starts in 13 games.
