Providence, Rhode Island - Former Brown All-American goalie Jordan Burke '09 was named the Major League Lacrosse Championships MVP after leading the Boston Cannons to the MLL Championship with a 10-9 victory over the Hamilton Nationals in the MLL title game on Sunday.
Burke, the USILA Goalie of the year as a senior at Brown, made nine saves in the championship tilt. He also stopped 14 shots in the Cannons' 14-13 semifinal victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Burke is the second goalkeeper to earn the MLL Championship MVP honor and the second from Brown. In 2004, former Bears' All-American goalkeeper Greg Cattrano '97 earned the award after leading the Philadelphia Barrage to their first MLL title.
Burke, who posted a 9-3 regular season record, led the MLL with a .615 save percentage while ranking second in the MLL with a 10.60 goals against average. He made a career-high 24 saves twice during the regular season. After making 24 saves in a June 11 win over the Long Island Lizards, he had 24 saves in an August 6 victory over the Rochester Rattlers.
