PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's hockey team faces its first tests of the 2011-12 season this weekend with a pair of scrimmages. The Bears host Ivy foe Harvard in an informal scrimmage on Saturday night at 7:00 and return to the ice Sunday afternoon when they welcome Waterloo to Meehan for a 2:00 exhibition contest. Both events are free and open to the public.
The scrimmage and exhibition this weekend are the only two opportunities for third-year head coach Brendan Whittet '94 and his staff to look at the team against another opponent, as Brown opens its season next Friday against Dartmouth in the fifth-annual Ivy Showcase. The Bears will also face Princeton in the showcase, hosted by the Big Green, as both games will count in Brown's overall record but not in ECAC or Ivy standings. Brown officially opens ECAC Hockey play on Friday, November 4, when it hosts Colgate in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
