Boston, MA- Sophomore Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Brown men's water polo team with six goals to lead the Bears to a 16-6 victory over Washington & Jefferson in the first round of the ECAC Championship hosted at Harvard this evening.
Brown jumped out to a dominating 8-1 lead after the first eight minutes of play, and went on to outscore its opponents 6-1 in the second to take a commanding 14-2 lead. The Bears then scored just two goals in the final two quarters as Washington & Jefferson tallied four, but Bruno's lead was just too much to handle as the squad earned the 16-6 win.
Stefanovic led the offense with six goals, while Eric Robb scored three. Adding to the attack was Steven Chizen with two, followed by Chris Culin, James McNamara, Marcus Gartner, Gordon Hood and Grant Villeneuve with one apiece.
Max Lubin was solid in goal earning three saves in two quarters, while Walker Shockley stopped four shots in the final two quarters of play.
Brown will now take on Johns Hopkins tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
