
James McNamara Selected to USA Junior National Water Polo Team

Providence, RI- Incoming freshman James McNamara (Los Angeles, CA) has recently been selected to the USA Junior National Water Polo team that will be competing in the 2010 UANA Junior Pan American Cup in Miami, Fla. August 10-16. Following Olympic Development tryouts, McNamara was chosen for the Junior Team training squad and made the final cut to represent Team USA.
"When James gave me the news that he was selected I was very proud of him," said Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado. "It is a great opportunity for him and shows the level of student-athletes we are bringing into Brown University. I know he will represent Brown well and I look forward to coaching him in the fall."
The 6-foot-3 right-handed attacker hails from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. Not only was he selected to the USA Junior National training team, but he was also selected to the ODP Coastal Zone Junior Team. He earned CIF Division I first team honors, as well as the 2009 High School All-Southern California team. A 2009 Daily News Player of the Year, he currently plays for Los Angeles Water Polo Club team.
