
Brown Women's Basketball Sweeps Cornell With 74-58 Victory

Ithaca, NY- Freshman Lindsay Nickel lit up for a career-high 23
points and junior Aileen Daniels netted a career-high 22 points to
help lead the Brown women's basketball team to a 74-58
victory over the Cornell Big Red at Newman Arena on Friday night.
The Bears improved to 7-19 overall and 5-8 in the Ivy League, while
Cornell drops to 7-19 overall and just 2-10 in league play.
Despite Cornell's 16-12 lead with 12:07 remaining in the
first half, the Bears picked up their intensity on both ends of the
floor and rolled to a 35-30 halftime lead. Nickel and Daniels
carried the offense adding 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the
squad shot 53 percent from the field.
The Bears continued its hot shooting into the second half and
didn't allow the Big Red back into the game. Bruno built a
47-32 lead after a bucket by freshman Sheila Dixon seven minutes
into the second stanza. A Courtney Lee (Archer, FL) jumper extended
Brown's lead to 62-48. The Bears shot 52 percent from the
field for the game and went 38 percent from beyond the arc to
cruise to its 16-point win.
Also chipping in was Hannah Passafuime with nine points, and Dixon
added six. Leading the Big Red was Allie Fedorowicz with 20 points,
while Virginia McMunigal added 12.
Brown will end its 2009-10 season tomorrow night when it takes on
the Columbia Lions at Levien Gym.
