
Water Polo Defeats Marist 9-5 in ECAC Semifinals

Princeton, NJ- Led by senior Lauren Presant's four goals
and three steals, the Brown University women's water polo
team (7-1) earned a big 9-5 win against Marist on Saturday night
during the semi-finals of the ECAC Championship hosted by
Princeton.
The Bears started off strong and built a 2-0 lead after the first
eight minutes an
d increased its lead to 6-2 at the half. The Red Foxes cut its
deficit to 7-4 in the third quarter, but Brown out-scored Marist
2-1 in the fourth to earn a 9-5 win to advance to the ECAC
Championship game tomorrow.
Leading the way for the Bears was Presant with four goals, an
assist, three steals and three ejections drawn. Pitching in was
junior Joanna Wohlmuth with two goals and four ejections drawn.
Sarah Glick was once again a force on both ends of the pool, as she
had two goals, handed out three assists and tallied three steals.
Also adding a goal was rookie Brittany Westerman.
Stephanie Laing played an outstanding game in the cage for the
Bears, picking up eight saves to lead Brown's stingy
defense.
Bruno will take on host Princeton tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in the
ECAC Championship game. The Bears will look to avenge a 13-11 loss
to the Tigers on Feb. 21 during the Princeton Invitational.
