
Danis '04 Signs With NJ Devils

PROVIDENCE, RI - Former Brown goalie Yann Danis '04 has signed
an NHL contract with the New Jersey Devils, announced Friday. As
per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Danis, 28, joins the Devils after spending last season with the New
York Islanders, splitting the season between New York (NHL) and the
Bridgeport Soundtigers (AHL). He began the season with
Bridgeport, where he went 7-3-0, with a 2.26 goals-against average
in 10 AHL appearances from Oct. 10-Jan. 7.
Danis appeared in an NHL career-high 31 games, posting a 10-17-3
mark, while leading the team with two shutouts, a .910 save
percentage, and 2.86 goals-against average. He joined the Islanders
as a free agent on July 2, 2008 after four-plus seasons with the
Canadiens' organization.
A native of Lafontaine, Quebec, Danis was a Hobey Baker Memorial
Award Finalist in 2004, while also earning First Team All-America
honors, First Team All-ECAC, First Team All-Ivy, as well as ECAC
Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year, and Ivy League Player of
the Year. Danis was also a three-time Academic All-American will at
Brown, earning First Team honors in both 2002 and 2004.
He continues to hold numerous Brown hockey records including goals
against average in a season (1.81 in 2004), save percentage in a
season (.942 in 2004), shutouts in a season (5 in 2004), as well as
career goals against average (2.20), career save percentage (.930),
and career shutouts (13).
