
Track & Field Prepares for NCAA Tournament

Fayetteville, AR- Three Brown University track & field
athletes traveled to the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell
Field on Sunday afternoon to compete in the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track
& Field Championships from Wednesday-Saturday, June
10-13. Representing the Brown women's track & field
squad is sophomore Brynn Smith (Saco, ME), who will be competing in
the hammer throw, as sophomore Craig Kinsley (Fairfield, CT) and
junior Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) represent the Brown men's team.
Kinsley is competing in the javelin throw and Powlen in the
discus.
"Craig (Kinsley), Bryan (Powlen) and Brynn
(Smith) have been working hard all season long," said throws coach
Michelle Eisenreich. "They feed off of their great
performances and improve week in and week out. We are
expecting to go in and compete hard and see some more great
results."
Kinsley is seeded fourth in the javelin throw
with a toss of 73.62m and will begin competition on Wednesday in
the preliminaries at 8:00 p.m. Powlen is seeded 25th in the
discus with a throw of 55.86m, as he begins competition on Thursday
in the preliminaries at 1:00 p.m. Smith the 2009 Outdoor Ivy
League Heptagonal Championship Women's Athlete of the Meet, is
seeded 27th in the hammer throw with a mark of 57.15m and will
begin competing on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
