
Men's Soccer Set to Take on North Carolina Tomorrow

The Brown University men's soccer team will take on No. 5
seed North Carolina at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at Fetzer Field in the
second round of NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. The
Bears feature an 11-2-5 overall record, while host UNC owns a
13-2-3 record. North
Carolina will have a free webcast of the game that will be
available on TarHeelBlue.com.
The Bears, who hosted their first-round NCAA Tournament game
against Stony Brook on Thursday, are coming off a thrilling 1-0
double overtime victory. Sophomore Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec)
scored the golden goal in the 103rd minute of play to advance Brown
to the second round in Chapel Hill, N.C. Rosa leads the team in
scoring with 16 points on five goals and six assists, while senior
Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA) has five goals and four assists.
Junior goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) picked up his 10th
win during Brown's victory against the Seawolves, increasing
his overall record to 10-2-5 on the year. Grandstrand has allowed
just 13 goals this season for a 0.72 goals against average, and has
a .794 save percentage.
Brown and UNC have matched up just two times, as both teams have a
1-1 record. Brown earned a 2- 1 victory on Oct. 15, 1993, at the
Lanzera/Sheraton Classic in Charlottesville, Virginia. North
Carolina defeated Brown 5-0 on Sept. 15, 2002, during Brown's
annual adidas-Brown Soccer Classic.
North Carolina is making its 17th appearance in the NCAA
Tournament and is currently second in the ACC with 38 goals scored
this season. Eleven different players have found the back of the
net, as four players own five-plus goals and six players have three
or more goals on the season. The Tar Heels are 9-1-1 at home this
season, with its lone loss coming against Boston College on Oct.
