Providence, RI- Brown freshman defender Thomas McNamara (West
Nyack, NJ) was named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week
after two solid performances for the Brown men's soccer
team.
This past week, McNamara helped lead the Bears to a 1-1 double
overtime tie against St. John's and a 1-0 victory against
Cornell to increase the team's overall record to 8-1-5 on the
season and move to 3-1 mark in Ivy League play.
McNamara played 103 minutes against the Red Storm, and was
dangerous on the offensive end. He tallied two shots in the game,
both of which were on goal, and played a great defensive game for
the Bears. Against the Big Red, he posted the golden goal in the
71st minute of play to give Bruno a 1-0 edge and the eventual win.
He recorded a team-high three shots, two on goal, and helped lead
Bears to its fifth shutout of the year. He now has six points on
three goals.
Catch the Bears in action at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in a home game
against Penn.
