Former Brown All-Ivy linebacker Steve Ziogas ’09 returnedto his alma mater in 2012 as a defensive assistant for the Bears,and was named the Bears' wide receivers coach in 2014. He was thesuccessful defensive line coach at Wesleyan for two years (2010,2011).
As a player at Brown, Ziogas was a two-year starter, who helpedthe Bears win Ivy League Championships in 2008 and 2005, earningthe distinction of being a member of the first class in Brownhistory to capture two Ivy titles.
He earned All-Ivy honors in 2008 after leading the Bears'defense with 65 total tackles, including three for a loss, twoquarterback sacks, four pass break-ups and an interception. As asenior, he earned the 2008 Eugene Swift Award as the member of theBrown team who best displays character, devotion, fairness andpersonal courage.
Ziogas, who is working towards his Masters of Liberal Arts inSocial Sciences at Wesleyan, began his college coaching as arecruiter and quality control advocate at Central Connecticut St.U. in 2009, and was part of the Blue Devils NEC Championship squad.He was also served as Academic Coordinator at CCSU.
Steve was a player/coach for the Carinthian Black Lions in theAustrian Football League, seeing action at linebacker, defensiveback and running back. He served as the defensive coordinatorand led the squad in tackles for the 2010 season.
A native of Bristol, Conn, Steve was an All-Conference andAll-State football standout in high school. He played in theConnecticut-Rhode Island Governor's Cup game in 2005 and received aNational Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete award. He alsovolunteered as a coach with his former high school during hiscollege playing career.
