Kirsten Green was hired in April 2023 as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Chief of Staff. She is a member of the executive leadership team.
At Brown, Green supports the Vice President’s priorities and connects initiatives and people across the Division of Athletics and Recreation, the University, and externally. She manages Division governance and provides leadership over the Division’s executive operations, including the execution of the Division's strategic and operational plans. Green serves as a sponsor for the Brown Sports Network student group and on the Brown Faculty Club Board of Advisors.
Green came to Brown after sixteen years at Harvard, having served eight years as the director of men's basketball operations (2007-15) and eight years in athletics administration (2015-23).
At Harvard, Green worked with the director of athletics, the athletics administration, and campus partners in a broad role with responsibility in the areas of communication, organization, alumni relations, coach development, and sport program management. She oversaw special projects and wrote athletics features for the Harvard Gazette news website. Green was an inaugural member of the Ivy League Basketball Tournament Working Group and served from 2016-23.
Green also spent eight seasons as the director of men's basketball operations at Harvard (2007-15). She was responsible for overseeing all administrative aspects of the program, which won five Ivy League championships (2011-15) and reached the NCAA tournament four times (2012-15). Prior to her time in Cambridge, Green was the director of men's basketball operations at the University of Michigan and at Seton Hall University for 10 seasons. Her tenures included Seton Hall’s 2000 NCAA Sweet Sixteen run and Michigan’s 2004 Post-Season NIT Championship.
A December 1996 graduate of Duke University with a degree in mathematics, Green was a four-year student manager for the men's basketball program. She was a member of teams which reached the 1994 NCAA championship game and earned the 1994 and 1997 Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season championships. Green earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree in general management from Harvard in 2015.
A native of Jamestown, N.Y., Green was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in February 2023.
