Why Brown Statement: For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to attend Brown. There seemed to be some magnetic force pulling me in the direction of Providence. I came to visit the school December of my junior year of high school and fell in love with the campus and the academics. Of course the open curriculum was appealing but what I truly appreciated with the responsibility Brown entrusted in its students. I found that at Brown, more than at any other school I had learned about or visited, the students were interested in the courses they were taking. They truly wanted to be in those classrooms, learning subjects they wanted to know more about. They were taking their classes because they wanted to, not because it was a requirement the school's administration told them they had to take. I continued to stay in touch with the coaches after my visit to the school and in October of my senior year, I took an official visit. That is when I fell in love with the team. I stayed at the girls' "Swim House" and had one of the best weekends of my life. Not only did I bond with the other recruits that were on my trip, I bonded with the girls on the team as well. We made cookies, watched movies, walked on Thayer together, and had burgers, fries, and milkshakes at BBC. I committed during my official visit and when I went back to school that next Monday, I wore my Brown sweatshirt I had bought on my trip from the bookstore. I wore a Brown sweatshirt every single day of school from then on."
