Kyle Dorion was named an assistant coach to the Brown ski team in December of 2017 and recently completed his third season with the Bears in 2020.
In 2019, the Bears finished fourth in the team standings and Dorion and head coach Alex Norden received MacConnell Division Coaching Staff of the Year laurels. The program had two skiers ranked in the top-10 for individual points and earned All-MacConnell Division Team honors. Brown concluded the year with a seventh-place finish at USCSA/ECSC Regionals.
The 2020 campaign saw the Bears finish third in the country in the slalom at the USCSA National Championships and finish fourth overall at USCSA Eastern Regionals. Three skiers qualified for NCAA Regionals and achieved All-MacConnell Division Team honors.
Dorion came to College Hill after a successful collegiate career at the University of Rhode Island, helping the Rams’ ski team reach four consecutive USCSA Eastern Regionals Championships. In addition to competing, Dorion was the team president for the 2015-16 season and the treasurer for 2016-17.
In high school, Dorion was a member of the Saint John’s Shrewsbury ski team and also competed with the Franconia Ski Club (FSC) and NH racing. He was selected as a team captain in his junior and senior years. Dorion began his racing career with the FSC on his home hill of Cannon Mountain.
