Taylor Scotton was named an assistant coach in August of 2023. Scotton joins the Bears after a stellar playing and coaching career at the University of North Carolina. As a player, she was a team captain and four-year starting defender from 2008-11. She helped lead UNC to the NCAA Championship Game in 2009 and the national semifinal in 2010 and 2011. Scotton set a then-UNC record by starting 80 career contests, including 70 in a row beginning late in her freshman year.
As an assistant coach from 2015-18, Scotton helped lead the Tar Heels to the 2016 National Championship, three ACC Tournament Championships, and four regular season ACC Championships. Over the four seasons, she helped UNC amass a 72-13 overall record and a 25-3 ACC mark. During the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Scotton and Dowd coached together on UNC's staff.
Most recently, Scotton served as a certified official with the CWLOA.
