2017 XC: Finished the Ivy League Championship (6K) in a time of 23:35.2 … finished 12th at the Brown Rothenberg Run (5K) at 17:49.6 … also competed at the Columbia Invite and the Boston College Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
2016 XC: Finished 11th in the 5k at the Rothenberg-Brown Invitational with a time of 17:55.1 ... Placed 46th in the 5k at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown with a time of 18:36.0 ... Ran a 22:20.5 in the 6k at the Ivy League Heptagonal XC Championships to capture 76th.
2015 XC: Placed 12th in the 5k at the Fordham Fiasco with a time of 20:06.70 … Ran a 19:02.2 in the 5k at the New England Championships to finish 88th … Placed 16th in the 5k at the Rothenberg Run with a time of 18:12.0 … Ran a 23:56.1 in the 6k at the Ivy League Championships to finish 87th.
2015 Outdoor: Competed in the 4x800 meter relay at the Ivy League Championship … part of the winning 4x400 meter relay at the Brown Springtime Open … third in the 800 meters and 4x400 meter relay at the Brown Invitational … also competed at the Mark Young Invitational.
2014-15 Indoor: Finished sixth in the 800m (2:20.54) at the USATF New England Indoor Championship … Finished fifth in the 3000m (10:39.54) at the Brown University Alden Invitational.
2014 XC: Ran a time of 18:44.54 in the 5k at the Rothenberg Run to finish 25th overall … Finished 164th in the 5k at the New England Championships with a time of 19:46.02.
Before Brown: A four year letter winner in cross country, soccer, and track and field. Placed and played in every State Championship in each sport through out her high school career. Named, 2014 HPA Female Athlete of the Year, she was the 2014 BIIF Conference Individual XC Champion and 2013 runner-up. An integral part of a XC team that won 4 BIIF Conference Titles (freshmen through senior year); 2nd place as a team in the 2010, 2013, and 2014 HHSAA Hawaii State XC Championships; and in 2011, she led her team as first Big Island finisher to their first cross country Division 1 State Championship (HHSAA); (individually she has placed 5 through 9th at State XC).
As a senior, she was captain of her cross country, soccer, and track and field teams. Named 2014 BIIF All Conference Defender and elected captain of her soccer team, her team won the 2014 Hawaii (HHSAA) State Soccer Div II Championship, and 4 BIIF Conference Soccer Team Championships (freshmen through senior year), and 2 state soccer Championships as runner-ups.
In track and field, her team won every BIIF Conference Championship. Individually Van Pernis placed 3rd in the 1550m in the 2014 HHSAA State Championships and 5th for the prior 3 years; 4th, 6th, and 5th in the State in the 800m, and her 4x400 team placed 5th and 3rd, and she placed 5th in the State in her first 3000m run in 2014.
Personal: Born August, 1996 in Hawaii, Alexandra is the daughter of Mark and Kristi Van Pernis. She graduated Cum Laude, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Commended and has received awards in Biology and English as well as 2014 HPA Female Athlete of the Year, US Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete Award, 2014 HMSA Kaimana Distinguished Scholarship Award, and MVP awards in Cross Country, Most Outstanding in Track and Field, and numerous Coach's Awards in Soccer, Track, and XC. She is a tap dancer, painter, certified scuba diver, and interested in biology and genetics. She is concentrating in environmental science.
