Shane Lynch, formerly the head women’s basketball coach at the College of St. Joseph (Vt.), enters his second season with the Brown University women’s basketball program as the team’s operations coordinator in 2016-17.
In 2015-16, Lynch helped lead the Bears to their first sweep of the state of Rhode Island’s three Division I basketball programs in program history as the Bears notched a 12-2 non-conference record, the team’s most non-league wins since 1975. He aided Shayna Mehta ’19 in becoming the unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year while Jordin Alexander ’16 earned All-Ivy honors and became Brown’s 19th 1,000-point scorer.
Prior to joining the Bears, Lynch most recently served as a private basketball coach and tutor from 2013-15, working with clients in the states of Vermont and New York. On the college level, he has served as the head women’s coach at the College of St. Joseph (2011-12), as an assistant coach at Central Maine Community College (2010-11), and as an associate head coach at Vermont Technical College (2007-08).
While at St. Joseph, Lynch improved the Lady Saints’ record from 3-27 to 15-15 in his first season, mentoring multiple all-conference selections. He also served as the director of communications for athletics.
Lynch also worked as the director of sports information at CMCC and served as an assistant to the athletic director at VTC. He played three years of varsity basketball at Vermont Technical College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2007.
