Danielle Pearson, a former captain at Providence College, enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Brown University women’s basketball program in 2016-17.
“Danielle will be a great addition to our staff. She was an outstanding player at Providence and has a terrific understanding and passion for the game,” Brown head coach Sarah Behn said upon Pearson’s hiring. “She has an excellent background in coaching and skills development as well as mentoring student-athletes on and off the court.”
Pearson played at Providence College from 2010-14, appearing in 99 career games for the Friars with 31 starts. She served the Friars as a co-captain as a senior in 2013-14. Pearson recorded single-game career highs of 16 points (vs. Marquette on Feb. 26, 2013), 16 rebounds (at UMass Lowell on Nov. 9, 2013), and nine assists (at Duquesne on Dec. 5, 2013).
From 2014-16, Pearson served as a graduate assistant for communications and assessment in student affairs at Providence while completing a master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in higher education. A product of Thomas Jefferson High School and a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Pearson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Providence in 2014.
