Former Brown quarterback Mitchell Jonke ‘21 enters his second season on the Brown coaching staff in 2025. Jonke joined James Perry's staff as an Offensive Quality Control Assistant in 2024 before being promoted to Quarterbacks Coach and Recruiting Coordinator ahead of the 2025 season.
In his current role, Jonke coaches the quarterbacks and oversees the internal coordination of the team’s recruiting efforts and serves as a liaison to admissions.
With the Bears in 2024, he helped coach quarterback Jake Willcox to Honorable Mention All-Ivy and Fourth Team Phil Steele All-Ivy accolades. Brown led the Ivy League and ranked ninth in FCS Football with 290.7 passing yards per game, and Brown was tops in the league and 18th nationally with 421.8 yards of total offense per contest.
Prior to returning to College Hill, Jonke worked as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm, and as a graduate assistant coach at Hardin Simmons University.
In two years at Saint Anselm, Jonke served as the running backs coach in 2022 and 2023, and also served as quarterbacks coach for the 2023 season, a year in which the Hawks finished second in the Northeast 10 standings. He ran the team’s kickoff unit and assisted with special teams, while also chipping in as the program’s community service coordinator, equipment manager, and oversaw video operations.
In 2021, Jonke was a graduate assistant on staff at Hardin Simmons, working closely with the team’s tight ends, running positional meetings, operating the scout team offense and special teams, and assisted with football operations.
A native of Lucas, Texas, Jonke earned his bachelor’s degree in from Brown in 2021. After his collegiate playing career came to a close, Jonke remained with the Bears as a student assistant for the spring of 2021.
