Frankie O'Brien enters her second season as an assistant coach of the Brown field hockey program ahead of the 2026 season.
During her first season at Brown, O'Brien helped lead the Bears to one of the best seasons in program history with a second-straight Ivy League Tournament appearance.
Brown's 10 wins were the most since 2003 and it was the fifth time in program history the program earned 10 victories in a single season.Â
O'Brien helped guide Brown to its first national ranking (No. 20) for the first time since the 1999 season and a No. 10Â RPI ranking, the best in program history. The Bears also had the No. 4 strength of schedule. Brown's six-game winning streak in 2025 matched the most in program history.
Under O'Brien's leadership, Lucy Adams was named an NFHCA First Team All-American, Adams became the first two-time All-American in program history and the second First Team All-American in program history. It was the first time the Bears have had an All-American in back-to-back seasons.
The 2025 Bears had five players earn a program record five NFHCA All-Northeast Region honorees. Lucy Adams and Mia Karine Myklebust were named to the First Team as Lexi Pellegrino, Emily Jury, and Ellie Parker were named to the Second Team. Adams became the first player in program history to earn All-Region four times and became the first player in program history to be named to the First Team three times.
Brown had five All-Ivy honorees in 2025, highlighted by Lucy Adams and Mia Karine Myklebust named to the First Team. Lexi Pellegrino and Emily Jury were named Second Team All-Ivy while Ellie Parker was named Honorable Mention All-Ivy. Adams became the third player in program history to be named First Team All-Ivy three times. Adams joined Lauren Becker '87 and Christine Monteiro '93 as the only Bears to accomplish this feat. Adams also became the fourth player in program history to be named All-Ivy on four separate occasions,  joining Monteiro, Julia Hitti '25 and Lizzie Buza '04. Adams was one of four student-athletes to be named unanimous First Team All-Ivy.
Brown finished the 2025 season sixth in the nation in assists per game (3.06), 10th in goals per game (3.0), and 10th in points per game (9.06). All three led the Ivy League. The Bears also ranked 17th nationally and second in the Ivy League in penalty corners per game (7.13).
Brown Field Hockey head coach Britt Broady announced the addition of Frankie O’Brien as an assistant coach to round out the staff ahead of the 2025 campaign. O’Brien comes to College Hill after most recently serving in the same role at Ohio University.

O’Brien spent three years with at Ohio as a graduate assistant before taking on an assistant coach role for the 2024 season. Additionally, O’Brien has served as a Nexus Head Coach and Site Director for the last six years.

A standout player at Hofstra, O’Brien played in 85 career games with 81 starts over five seasons (2017-21) and was a team captain for four seasons. She also served as Hofstra’s SAAC President in the 2021-22 academic year and was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad five times.

O’Brien graduated from Hofstra with a degree in English and English education before earning her Master’s in Sports Science and Coaching Education from Ohio.
