WORCESTER, Mass. - Coming off a dominant performance against Cornell in the Dunn Bowl last Saturday, No. 9 Brown Women's Crew turns its attention to the 51st Women's Sprints on Sunday, May 3. The yearly regatta is held in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Lake Quinsigamond, with racing scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.Â
The Bears have won 11 Varsity Eight championships at the Sprints, including three in a row from 2022 to 2024. In addition, Bruno has claimed fourteen team championships at the Women's Sprints since 1990, winning the Charles G. Willing Trophy in each of the last four seasons.Â
Last year's regatta saw all six of Brown's boats qualify for the Grand Final, with the V8 finishing in second place behind the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The 2V8 and 3V8 each won their respective Grand Finals, while the A4 came in third place and the B4 and C4 crews finished as runners-up.Â
The Varsity Eight has performed at a consistently high level throughout April, winning five of their last races. The Bears as a team have won fourteen consecutive races against Columbia, Boston University, and Cornell entering this weekend.Â
The Second Varsity has won six races in a row, with their only loss of the season coming on March 28 at No. 7 Princeton. The V8 and 2V8 have been coxed by Summer Balla-Kellett and Caitlyn Roddy for the entire season.Â
