
Nagy Claims Gold and Cicco Breaks Program Record on Day Three of Ivy League Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Marton Nagy won his first gold medal of the 2026 Ivy League Men's Swimming and Diving Championship on Friday evening at DeNunzio Pool on the campus of Princeton University. Nagy won the 400 IM with a time of 3:41.89, breaking his own pool record from last year's Ivy League Championships. Will Cicco also broke the 1000-yard freestyle program record with a time of 8:55.94. The Brown men's swim and dive team finished day three of the 2026 Ivy League Championship on Friday in fourth place with 586 points.
During the morning session, six Bears qualified for the 400 IM finals: Nagy (first), Erik Nadecki (eighth), Matthew Purcell (11th), Max Hardart (15th), James Kershaw (18th), and Jack Maron (21st). Christopher Zhang, Finn Quested, and Jonathan Gim all advanced to the evening A finals of the 200 free. In the finals, Zhang placed tenth (1:35.06), Quested placed 15th (1:37.38), and Gim placed 23rd (1:40.24).
Jake Regenwetter placed 11th in the 100 breaststroke prelim and secured tenth in the finals with a time of 53.50.
In the three-meter diving prelims, Rowland Lawver placed 14th with a score of 288.90. The three-meter diving finals will take place tomorrow at 6 p.m.
The team finished off day three with the 400-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Nagy, Regenwetter, Donavan Jeng, and Zhang, taking seventh with a time of 3:11.20.
The final day of the Ivy League Championship will feature the 200-yard butterfly, breaststroke, and backstroke events as well as the 100 free, 400 free relay, and the 1650 free. Following preliminary races at 11 a.m., the finals will begin at 6 p.m.
